RF Applications Engineer

A global supplier of electronic components and sub-assemblies is looking to hire an Applications Engineer – RF. The Applications Engineer is responsible for providing technical content and support for RF Interconnect product lines that includes high frequency components up to 110 GHz and high-reliability cable assemblies.  This responsibility shall include providing applications support, creating app notes and other pertinent technical content (as required), maintaining and expanding product line performance capabilities, developing product datasheet templates and working with Product Line Managers in developing and maintaining product datasheet specifications.  Further, this role will include the development of technical and sales product training for internal and external sales and marketing teams.  The Applications Engineer RF will be responsible for the development of test methods and procedures.  The position will interface with Quality Assurance for incoming inspection discrepancies and disposition of field returns.  The Applications Engineer RF must have an in-depth understanding of RF, Microwave, and mm-Wave component and interconnects specifications, performance, and basic theoretical concepts, in addition to hands on experience with component level test and measurement procedures.



The Applications Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Working with the Product Line Manager group to drive new product additions.
  • Accurately create, review, interpret, and present technical data.
  • Understanding suppliers’ specifications to translate them into the company datasheet documents.
  • Learning and comprehending internal technical product database. Taking a leading role in datasheet design and creation in area of responsibility.
  • Serving as the technical liaison between Product Line Management, Marketing, Product Coordinators, Quality, Suppliers and Sales.
  • Becoming an expert in technical parameters related to assigned product categories.
  • Using Engineering Change Request (ECR) process to review/approve document changes.
  • Effectively manage time to meet priorities.
  • Interpreting CAD drawings through the analysis of suppliers’ drawing and providing guidance and feedback to CAD draftsperson.
  • Following written processes, flowcharts, and verbal instructions.
  • Creating and proofreading technical documents and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the technical information in datasheets.
  • Providing application support to customers.
  • Managing supplier interactions pertaining to technical requirements.
  • Training Tech Support and Sales personnel on products and their applications.
  • Using company tools to track and manage work assignments.
  • Preparing and coordinating activities related to uploading datasheets on the web.
  • Reading and creating Block Diagrams.


Requirements for the Applications Engineer:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering is required, MS Electrical Engineering degree is preferable, concentration in RF / Microwave preferred.
  • Two to five years of RF / Microwave technical design, product engineering, testing, and application support experience necessary.
  • High level of the computer proficiency – MS Office Suite–Database.
